Da verden købte sig en Walkman

For lidt over 40 år siden så et lille, uanseeligt stykke elektronik dagens lys i Japan, der faktisk forandrede verden: Sonys Walkman. For hvor musik tidligere var en kollektiv oplevelse, blev den med walkmanens høretelefoner forvandlet til en isolerende aktivitet. Og med det var en helt ny form for væren i verden født. ”At bære telefoner fungerede både som et personligt ‘forstyr ikke’-skilt og som et alternativt soundtrack til byens kakofoni. Det var en ny form for menneskelig oplevelse, engageret disengagement, et teknologisk skjold fra verden og en modgift til kedsomhed”, skriver journalist Matt Alt i The New Yorker.
